Introduction
You open the map of Western Macedonia and search for a travel destination... Kastoria, Prespes, Grevena, Valia Kalda, Nymphaeum. Lakes from here, traditional settlements from here, national park beyond...You heard someone choose Kozani; Maybe just someone who got carried away by the chant:
What Lausanne, what Kozani, snows one snows and the other.
Two coffee shops, two cinemas, pastel, ouzo pastourma…
Many girls, few grooms and the evening cold heavy...
Which if you exclude the cold, you also sue the lyricist (good time where he is) for misleading information...
The city of Kozani
With five polytechnic schools, what few grooms; Candidates must do internal migration to the neighboring prefecture (Florina) to find girls. The girls of humanities schools de. And the cafes of the central square, they are now luxury coffee shops, with the corresponding price. As for ouzo in a city that has no sea, I don't know... If you also like boiled goat in Mykonos, you can try it... Now I don't have an opinion on pastourma, I limited myself to skewers... The ones with the stick and the meat around, ok primates;
If you have exhausted the tourist destinations of the introduction of this article, you start for the underdog. It first confirms the characterization, as it welcomes you with an anarchic structure, traffic and narrow streets. And let it be the capital of a prefecture, with fifty thousand inhabitants and many students. But leaving the car, you find the opportunity to walk on the main pedestrian street and the small side streets that make up the center.
The heart of the city beats there. Without having the special character of Serres or Drama, if someone searches, finds interesting sights such as the wood-carved iconostasis in Agios Nikolaos. Special church, someone must visit it and not only to worship the Saint. The central Niki square is also architecturally interesting, but mainly the eye is won by the various old mansions that spring up left and right.

Folklore museum
Such a mansion houses a museum that deserves special mention. This is a jewel in the center of the city that compensates the visitor of a misunderstood city. It is nothing more than the historical - folklore - natural history museum which to some (!!!) floors does it all and benefits. He makes sure to inform you about the wild flora and fauna of the area. It continues with the history of the region in general and of the war more specifically, partly fulfilling the duties of a war museum. He continues with folklore, which of course dominates and will satisfy even the most demanding nostalgics of old Greece.

Natural landscape
The city of Kozani itself does not offer any natural attractions, excluding of course the animate notables, but you will find a large artificial lake (Polyphytou) a few kilometers further. And with her, that good things accompany her, such as sycamore forest, the corresponding flora and fauna, boats, bridges. Like the bridge of Serbia which is one of the longest bridges in Greece. A little further outside the city you will also find the Kouri forest, as well as the gorge of Skepasmenos.
Bukhari is also a geological formation that deserves your attention. They resisted for seventy thousand years the erosion of the soil and remained standing bringing a bit of Cappadocia. Towards sunset you will take beautiful pictures but leave before nightfall, especially if you have read about demons…

Traditional villages and mansions
In Vlasti you will see a traditional village, at twelve hundred meters, with its cafes. I didn't see it covered in snow, but I could imagine it with the stoves burning and the tsipuras parading. In Siatista, which is not such a picturesque town, mansions add great value to it. Don't leave before you see at least one. I would suggest the Dolgira mansion with a tour guide Mr. Christos who loves what he does and is very helpful. He opens the rooms one by one, describing as if inviting you to live as a wealthy merchant of northern Greece 18u century.

Epilogue
Certainly the neighboring prefectures have more touristic glamour. Nevertheless, although I did not see all the sights of the prefecture, the ones I visited were worth the drive. I would say that the prefecture of Kozani confirms one of the basic rules of tourism: As long as you search, you find…
oh this Kozani and the girls who trouble us. AH!!!
I touched a sensitive chord somewhere…
The description of Kozani is excellent! I had visited it once before but it was too short and I didn't have time to admire everything you describe. It seems to me that at some point I have to go again…
Thank you for your kind words. Western Macedonia has a lot to see… Kozani is the outsider…
We have also been to the Dolgira mansion and were thrilled.
Really both the way it has been renovated and the way it is presented, they make it very attractive as an attraction…
Thank you for the information
Prompt to travel more, rather than information…
Very informative description, interspersed with a bit of humor that whets the reader's appetite to add the specific county to their travel destinations list. But the observation “many girls, few grooms” she must consider the local males
The state should think more… However, that was exactly the spirit of the article, a prompt and not a travel guide like there are many on the internet…
What pleases me the most is the fact that after a long hiatus you have returned to find your writing inspiration again. Thank you and good luck
Thank you…
Well done! When the inspiration comes again to write about Corinth! I am sure it will be your best article!
But I'm waiting for some more time to pass so that my enthusiasm can subside and I can be more objective…
